Case Study: Re-shaping a Mission

Coaching isn’t about adding more to your plate; it’s about finding the gentle momentum that makes everything feel manageable again.

The vision was there, but it felt heavy.

How we moved from chaos to clarity

You know the type. The visionaries; the ones who live and breathe their mission. They are ethical, sustainable, and incredibly hopeful. But they are also “easily dashed.” Prone to over-delivering, pouring every ounce of themselves into their community, and yet, they often find themselves caught in a “runaway train” of administrative complexity and decision fatigue.

I’m working with a client who embodies this beautifully. They has a massive, vital mission to change the outdoor industry, but are also drowning in the “how.”

Here is how we used a single hour to move from overwhelm to an actionable roadmap.

Before: The Weight of the “Runaway Train”

Before our session, the mission was a beautiful, sprawling web of ideas, data, and passion. There were 27,000 messages to analyse, complex HMRC forms to face, and a constant internal conflict between wanting to serve the community for free and needing to build a sustainable business.

The vision was there, but it felt heavy; it felt like it might break under its own weight.

During: The Art of Distillation

In our first hour together, we didn’t just “talk.” We distilled.

We took the sprawling energy of their mission and began to categorise it into structures. We moved away from the fear of “charging for ethics” and toward a strategic framework.

We explored the “Tiered Robin Hood Model”: using high-value corporate consultancy to directly fund free, grass roots community work. We turned a mountain of “to-dos” into a structured scale of impact.

Coaching is often something very different than expected. It is not just about fixing a business model; it is about providing a space where a founder is truly heard. It is about finding the balance between professional goals and personal resilience.

After: The Power of a Roadmap

By the end of the first hour, the noise had quieted. Our Founder didn’t just have a list of tasks; they had a profile, a mission statement, and a pricing logic that honoured both ethics and survival. They left feeling heard, invested, and, most importantly, steady.

A single hour isn’t about fixing everything; it is about creating the scaffolding that allows your vision to stand on its own.

This plan didn’t attempt to solve every problem at once. Instead, it focused on:
Constant into action: Re-framing the chaos of ideas into something steady, with foundations.
Decision Filters: From wanting to do everything for free, to reconciling this with an income and survival.
Clear frameworks: Knowing how easy it is to default to the free model, and asking for money.

The Outcome: Keep helping me

Our original contact was tentative, they had no idea who I was, what I was offering, or how I could help.  So I listened.  And I mean, really listened.  To all the thoughts, ideas, opportunities, challenges – and then distilled all I knew of them from this short session, their LinkedIn profile, social media and free video workshops.

The response to my post session feedback and resources was:

Wow this is invaluable. The Robin Hood approach- wow !!!!!
Also the pdf summary – sums up my business mission perfectly.
The other useful bit I spotted is your coaching framework – about ongoing work & accountability – check ins. That is helpful – I love a system as it is clear for me to understand.
Next steps I guess with you I am asking. Some kind of framework maybe with a start & finish is that possible?

Moving Forward: Re-Action Collective’s Commitment

I am part of the coaching support team at Re-Action Collective.  And we recognise that life and business are not solved in a single hour. That the unpacking is often a continuous process.

Because we believe that founders need sustained support to navigate both obstacles and opportunities, Re-Action Collective is providing free (funded) repeat 1:1 coaching sessions.

We are here to help you move through the layers – to listen, to hear, and to help you find the path that allows both your business and your humanity to thrive.

A Note from Clare:

Sometimes we can’t quiet the noise.  But we can focus on the right, ‘what next’.   Focus & Growth Coaching was set up to support those shifts that need to be shared. Ensuring our audience, customer, client… is aware of who we are, what we wish to offer, and how to be part of that wonderful journey.

Giving you the opportunity to work with me when one part of your business needs dedicated time to develop and flourish.

Why I’m sharing this case study

Because so many talented, purpose-led business owners are:

  • overthinking and burning out
  • have a thousand ideas but not able to choose ‘what next’
  • can’t connect the vision, mission, and income when they want to offer support for free
  • offering solutions that are vital to change behaviours, not just of individuals, but corporations

This is exactly why coaching exists.
And this is what the first step can feel like when you’re held with care.

If this has inspired you and I’m the caring coach you’ve been looking for.
