Take a Good Break

Know the value of slowing down, avoiding overwhelm, and preparing thoughtfully.

Mindful Tips to Prepare Your Business for a Break

As breaks in your business approach it’s tempting to rush around trying to finish everything before taking a well-deserved break. However, business owners know the value of slowing down, avoiding overwhelm, and preparing thoughtfully.

Here I’m sharing 10 mindful tips to help you prepare your business for the a break with care and intention.

1. Communicate Early

Let clients, suppliers, and your team know your holiday plans in advance. Share your closure dates and any key deadlines with plenty of notice. A simple email or a holiday-themed message on social media does the trick!

2. Set Realistic Goals

Focus on what truly needs to be completed before the break. Use the Pomodoro technique or similar time-blocking methods to work efficiently to help avoid burnout. Here’s a link from Mind about taking breaks in nature.

3. Automate Where Possible

Set up automated responses for emails and schedule social media posts in advance. This keeps your business presence active without requiring your constant input. Ask Alice from Of Moon And Stars for help.

4. Create a “Holiday Checklist”

List out critical tasks — such as paying invoices, sending client updates, or backing up data — to ensure you don’t forget anything essential. Honestly, I am the worst for putting off least liked tasks. So maybe I can be your accountability, and vice versa? (All year please..!)

5. Plan Gentle Client Outreach

Use the time as an opportunity to reconnect with clients and suppliers. Whether that’s sending sustainable cards, video free emails, or a small ethical thank-you gift, depending on the time of year. Focus on gratitude and connection over sales pitches.

6. Embrace Networking

Attend connection and share events like Conscious Entrepreneurs. On the 10th December 2024 we’re gathering with guest speaker, Haley Bell. These low-pressure opportunities can spark meaningful connections in a relaxed setting.

7. Prioritise Your Wellbeing

Schedule in some downtime for yourself during the hectic lead-up to the holidays. Remember, your energy is vital to your business’s success. And if being productive is creating more stress, check out one of my most popular workshops: Mastering Your Productivity

8. Review and Reflect

You are amazing. You are winning. Everyday is a step in the right direction. Take a moment to reflect on the year’s achievements. Consider creating a short list of wins to revisit when planning for the new year.

9. Prepare for a Smooth Restart

Plan a gentle re-start. Set aside a day to regroup, review goals, and ease back into business. Now might be a good time to visit your vision for the future. Every month I run Build Your Vision. It’s a game changer!

10. Celebrate Your Progress

Recognise the effort you’ve put into your business this year. Whether it’s a quiet toast at home or a small team celebration, honour your journey so far.

With these tips, you can prepare your business to take a break without stress. You’ll return refreshed, ready for what life and business offer.
